I was reading on a web site today that someone was writing about putter companies not wanting golfers to putt better so they could continue to sell them new putters every year. And also claiming that somehow golfers should not buy putters that win major championships or are used by professionals who putt great because they might not be right for them.
So I wanted to offer my two cents on the subject. On the first claim, in my opinion the main reason why golfers buy putters all the time is because they rarely improve their putting fundamentals or their improvement level drops off after each honeymoon period as they go through putter after putter. There is a
large group of tour players on all tours that do the same, switching every month or two, trying to catch lightning in a bottle.
On the second claim, that average golfers should not run out to buy what the pros or better players use, I would say that is a fair statement except for the putter. The putting green is the great equalizer. So golfers absolutely should look to the best putters on tour, particularly those that are not known for switching putters,
and consider why they are using a particular putter.
Why is SeeMore different? Players that use SeeMore putters at the highest levels, including the winners of 2 of the greatest winning putting performances in US Open and Masters history in Payne Stewart and Zach Johnson, do not switch putters. There are 3 tour players that have used SeeMore continuously the past 7 years on tour (Zach Johnson, Vaughn Taylor, and Briny Baird), and other than Tiger Woods they are in a small set of players who have not changed putters.
Average players should note that SeeMore putters are used for game improvement reasons by some of the guys known for the best putting (Zach and Vaughn) and best birdie making (Briny) on tour. And that many top college players, LPGA players, and amateurs are using at the highest level. They use them because they do improve their fundamental while using SeeMore, and have developed a long term system of continuous feedback that the club's unique technology provides. This helps them have more good putting rounds. They also take advantage of the putting ideas of top global putting instructor Pat O'Brien, the Director of Instruction at Lakewood CC in Dallas, who shows how SeeMore's simple system of hiding the red dot leads to a focus on fundamentals and game improvement.
Getting fit is absolutely critical in starting on the path to
improvement. But using a product with a unique and lasting technology that is proven to offer long term improvement is what can help take any player to his or her next level.
What do you think about these ideas? I would love to hear from you. And I will ask Pat O'Brien to add his thoughts once you have
responded.
